Great Salvation Plan

O the Great Salvation plan, You worked out for me
Amazing Grace how sweet the sound to save a wretch like me
I was dead in my sin, was lost with no hope was blind and I couldn’t see
I was sinking down deep to rise no more but Your love came and lifted me

O what love that caused You to bear all those scars for me
O the depth of grace revealed when You hung on that cross for me
You were beaten and scorned, Your body was torn
From Your head to Your toe, You bore scars of Love
Every drop of blood spilled was required for the sin
That kept me apart from You

On the cross You took my pain and bore my punishment
You exchanged all my sin for Your righteousness
I’m so thankful You came to seek and to find
This wandering child of Yours
You run with arms, stretched out wide
To each prodigal who is returning home to You

You went down to the depths of Hell for me
Then You were raised from the grave now ascended in Glory
I was broken, defeated by sin and my shame
But You bear the scars that took them away
Now Your resurrection power is working in me
I am chosen, adopted, redeemed. And I’m free

Why I wrote this …

This song came about through a line coming to my head “You exchanged all my sin for Your righteousness.” As I pursued this thought and as I looked towards Easter which is now with us and as a melody started to take shape the verses began to form quite easily.

As a Christian there is no greater joy than the fact of knowing the certainty of Salvation which Christ won for us on that Cross. There is nothing greater, more inspiring to write about. I have found a lot of my creative writing which is faith based will elude to this fact even in the slightest way.

So I hope you like it and may you be blessed knowing all Christ has done for you this Easter Sunday.

Song Writing Diary: This World

How this song started out was really the two chord structure from the Bm7 to the Asus4. I decided to tune the top E down to D, this just meant I could have a more open sound and when strumming the Bm shape I use in the song it meant the high wouldn't create any...
